Y&R Young & Rising

Urgent help and safety

If someone may be in immediate danger, do not wait for this platform.

Young & Rising is a self-guided personal-development platform. It is not an emergency service and messages are not monitored continuously.

Act now if there is immediate danger

Contact the emergency services available where you are, go to the nearest hospital or emergency facility, or ask a trusted person who can be physically present to stay with you.

If you may harm yourself or someone else

  1. Move away from weapons, medicines, or anything else you could use to cause harm.
  2. Tell a trusted person clearly that you need immediate support.
  3. Do not remain alone if being alone increases the danger.
  4. Contact local emergency or professional mental-health services.

If another person is threatening or controlling you

  1. Prioritize getting to a safer place over completing an assessment or confronting the person.
  2. Use a device the other person cannot monitor where possible.
  3. Contact a trusted person, local protection service, police, or emergency service when safe to do so.
  4. For a child in danger, contact a trusted safe adult or an appropriate child-protection service.

For distress that is serious but not an immediate emergency

Consider contacting a qualified local counsellor, psychologist, doctor, social worker, school support professional, faith leader with appropriate safeguarding practice, or another trusted support person.
